Look in basic stores like forever 21 for plain clothing items such as basic colored button ups, jean shorts and so on. Theres no reason to splurge on simple items. 2. Thrift stores are always the best place to look for preppy stuff on a budget. You can find anything from plaid skirts to preppy tee shirts to colorful button ups to lilly pulitzer knockoffs in thrift stores! Find statement peices at thrift stores and they will add a lot to your wardrobe. 3. Understand that preppy style doesn't mean you always wear preppy brands which can be very overpriced.
